Don Pedro fishing trip on 11-11-11

Don Pedro is where I took my two clients that I had the pleasure of guiding on Friday veterans day. We were greeted with overcast skies and a slight south breeze on this day and I knew we might have a challenging day ahead of us weather wise. I knew exactly where I wanted to fish so off we went, and soon we had two lines in the water and instantly we had a small fish on that was released and then another small one a few minutes later to also be released. Finally after some searching and working the area we started boating some quality fish, then a hard south wind came up and we had to run for cover where we were able to fish out of the hard wind but with little success. Then we started heading back to where we were catching fish as the wind looked to be calming down somewhat, but by the time I got half way back that hard south wind came back with a vengeance this time and this time we could not run for cover we were only able to just motor through it at a slow pace as the waves were way to big for running, and finally I found a very calm cove that was totally out of the wind and I eased the boat on the beach, and we waited out the wind by having some drinks and snacks. Finally we were able to get back to our spot and fish and then the wind laid down and made the rest of the day just perfect where my two clients hooked well over twenty fish, they boated sixteen and they kept there ten rainbows. Don Pedro is still cranking out the rainbows, so now is a great time to get out and enjoy a day on the water with no fishing pressure at all. The lake is back to just a few fishermen now.
