McClure fishing trip 5-15 2013

I took my dad (Don) and writer Ron Wilson from Western Outdoor News to McClure on Wednesday the 15th of May, upon arrival we were greeted with flock of turkeys, with four big toms strutting their stuff for the hens on the other side of the road. We launched the boat and headed out, I set two rods with shad for salmon and the other two rigged with kokanee gear and with in five minutes we had our first fish of the day, a small king salmon about 16 inches  long. The bite was slow as we would get a bite here and there, we hooked up a few kokanee, however we never did get any to the net, and the ones we lost were some really nice fish and we lost them just out of reach of the net and these fish looked to be in the 16 to 17 inch class fish at least, as they just lay there on the surface for a few moments before they took off again. We did find some nice rainbows  and we put eight of them in the boat and we kept two small kings, we let go 4 rainbows as well, so not a bad day at all on McClure. Here is a photo of my dad with our fish for the day. Thanks Monte Smith Gold Country Sportfishing.McClure fishing
