New Melones kokanee 8-17-2019

Returning client Dan brought along his wife Malinda for a day of chasing kokanee salmon on New Melones. The day was supposed to be a hot one, as we started at 6:00 and headed out. I set four rods at various depths and we were on our way, after 30 minutes we had our first take down and the first kokanee of the day was soon in the reliable fish bag. The day was not fishing like all the other days as we were fighting a full moon as we were trolling through fish and no takers, however I continued on working the same school of fish over and over until the full moon had started releasing its clutches and they started putting fish in the fish bag, it was not a fast bite, however we had a bite working for us and we had one rod that the kokanee were just in love with and didn’t really want anything else. They lost a three fish, boated a nice three pound rainbow and landed ten kokanee from the waters of New Melones and thankfully we had a nice breeze that kept the heat down as we fished till 1:00 o’clock. A great day with two great people. Thanks again for choosing Gold Country Sportfishing.
